There’s a bewildering choice of bikes available these days. To complicate the options further, going by your budget alone is no real guide as similarly priced bikes can have radically different specifications.
So where do you start?
You start with you! Get thinking about what you want from a bike, where you’re going to ride it and how much you want to spend. That way you can make sure that you’re getting the most for your money and the features that suit you.
Check out Jen Reviews on ‘How to choose a bike‘. It’s one of the most comprehensive we’ve found, covering everything from sizing and style to components and even the type of handlebars.
And when you’ve done that, while it might be tempting to buy online, remember your local bike shop. You’d expect us to say that, but a test ride is the only way to get a proper feel for a bike and make sure it’s just what you’re looking for.
